I just wanted to make a quick post to update on my health and tests that are being done. I went for my thyroid ultrasound last week and my doctor called the next day with the results. They got a good look at the nodule on the right side of my thyroid and said that it is about 5cm, which is considered large. They also found a tiny nodule on the left side of my thyroid but didn’t seem concerned about it because it is too small to do a biopsy. So yesterday I went for the biopsy of the nodule on the right side. The procedure really wasn’t as bad as I thought because the doctor numbed the area first before he did the biopsy, so there was very little pain. But afterwards, my neck started hurting and I had a hard time sleeping last night because every time I moved my head, my neck hurt. This morning the area where they did the biopsy is still very sore, but hopefully that will go away soon.
So now I have to wait for the results of the biopsy, and with this weekend being Labor Day, I’m not expecting any results until next week. My doctor is supposed to call me when he gets the results so I’m not sure if he will just give them over the phone, or what he will tell me, but hopefully we can move forward with getting this nodule removed. I’m hopeful that this nodule is somehow causing me pain on the left side, even though the nodule is on the right, because depending on exactly where the nodule is sitting, it could be pulling on things in my throat to cause pain. So hopefully I will get a call next week and we can move forward from there. I’m not too worried that it is cancer because most thyroid nodules are benign, but I’m just miserable and ready to get this thing taken care of.
I have made some changes in regards to WW (Weight Watchers), but I will write a more in depth post this weekend about that. I’m not quitting and I’m going to work as hard as I can to stay on my weight loss journey, but I am making some changes for the time being that will hopefully help me move in the right direction.
