Results But No Answers

September 6, 2019 by Amanda

Yesterday I called my doctor’s office to find out if they had gotten the results of the biopsy yet and later in the afternoon I received a phone call from my doctor. He said that the biopsy showed that the large thyroid nodule I have is benign and so since it is not cancer he is not going to do anything further with it. He asked if I’m still having pain and I said yes, I have a sore throat every day and it hurts more when I talk. He seemed a bit surprised about this and I’m not sure if he quite understood that I have had a sore throat all along or what. It kind of makes me wonder if he even listened to me when I was describing my symptoms when I initially saw him. He told me to call and schedule an appt to come back to see him in a few weeks and he would take another look.

So that is where I am at. To say that I am upset is an understatement. There is nothing more frustrating to be miserable and suffering and to feel like nobody is listening or willing to help. It has been almost 6 months and my daily life has been affected drastically and I still have no answers. I know something is wrong with me because it is not normal for a person to have a sore throat for this long and to be experiencing the other symptoms that I am having. So I called and made an appt with my primary doctor and I’m hoping that she will have some ideas or possibly refer me to someone else to get a second opinion. I do plan on scheduling another appt to see this ENT doctor again with the hope that maybe he will finally listen and will be willing to help me. I have nothing to lose at this point because I’ve been miserable for so long and I’m willing to try anything.

I was going to go work out today but I think I’m going to wait until Monday to get back to my regular exercise routine. My mother-in-law injured her leg/ankle/foot so I want her to stay off it as much as she can and chasing around a 3 year old wouldn’t be much fun for her. So hopefully by Monday she will be feeling better and can watch my daughter while I go work out. I do have an elliptical at home that I am going to use today to get some exercise. Today my points started over so I am going to be back on track and stay within my points. My goal for this week is to not go over my weeklies. I’ve been doing horrible with tracking and going way over my points, so it is time to get back on track.
