My name is Amanda, I am 40 years old and I’m from Iowa. I am a married, stay-at-home mom of 2 children, ages 4 and 5. They keep me pretty busy, so it can be difficult sometimes to take time for myself. I have dieted off and on for the past 17 years, but I always end up gaining the weight back. In November 2017 I joined Weight Watchers and began attending meetings. I am really loving going to the meetings and feel that they are helpful because I get the support from other people on Weight Watchers and I have the accountability of having to weigh in front of someone.
Since I was a teenager, I’ve used food to provide me with comfort. When I’ve had an emotional day, I’ve turned to food to help get me through it. I am hoping that over the next few years I can learn to let go of the emotional connection I have with food and use food as fuel for my body. Instead of living to eat, I want to learn to eat to live, if that makes sense. I am hoping by sharing my journey on this blog, I can look back on my progress and see how far I’ve come. I’m also hoping to inspire others who may be struggling with their journey to know that they are not alone and to keep going.
