Weekly Weigh-in/Health Update

July 17, 2019 by Amanda

I know this post is late because it is already Wednesday and I weighed in on Monday evening. But it has been a hectic week for me and I haven’t had much time to write a blog post, so I wanted to wait until after my appointment with the Ear Nose Throat (ENT) doctor so that I can share an update on my health as well, since that has really had an impact on my weight recently.

I weighed in on Monday and I knew I was going to have a gain. I went out to eat most days last week and made poor choices so I knew that my weigh in was not going to be good. I gained 4.2lbs and was really disappointed in myself but I know exactly why and I have to just move forward from this.

I am still having problems with my throat, it hurts to swallow, talk and even breathe sometimes. As I mentioned in a previous post, I had a ct scan of my throat done at the end of June and I just saw the ENT doctor today and got the results. He told me that there wasn’t anything that showed up on the ct scan on the left side of my throat that would explain the pain that I have been having. He did however mention that I have a large cyst on the right side of my thyroid. This was a huge surprise to me because I don’t feel any lumps on that side and I haven’t experienced much discomfort there so I’m not sure what is causing my pain on the left side.

He recommended that I get an ultrasound of my thyroid done and possibly a needle biopsy to see exactly what it is. Unfortunately, I live in a very rural area and there are no medical facilities nearby that can do this. So I have to travel to a city about 2 hours away to have this done. So he is putting in a referral to a different ENT doctor where they will be able to do these procedures and figure out what needs to be done. So basically it is like getting a second opinion because I am hoping that this new doctor will have more expertise and better technology to help figure out what is causing this pain, as well as address the cyst on my thyroid.

So it is now another waiting game, I have to wait until the new ENT calls to set up an appointment. I am hoping I will get a call yet this week, but I am trying not to get my hopes up. I also don’t know how soon I will get in to see this doctor so I could be waiting a while and that is unfortunate. I have been suffering from this sore throat for way too long and I really need answers as soon as possible.

Having this problem with my throat is really affecting my weight loss journey and I am trying so hard this week to stay on track. Today I did splurge quite a bit because my emotions were high and all I really wanted was some cold ice cream to help soothe my throat. I also ordered some pizza for supper so I went way over my points, but I am going to get right back on track tomorrow.

It has been a busy week for me because I am babysitting my nephew and haven’t been able to go to the gym. But I plan to get back to the gym on Monday so that I can try to stick to my exercise routine and get the scale moving in the right direction. It is very frustrating to see the scale moving up, but I know that if I stay focused, I will be successful.

I have almost all of my meals planned out for this week so that I can stay on track. We are going to a family BBQ this weekend but I plan to keep my portions small and be more mindful of what I am choosing to eat. Usually there are some healthy options to choose from so I will stay on track as much as possible.

Monday Weigh-in

I knew that I would have a gain at my weigh in this week so it wasn’t a surprise to see that I had gained 2lbs. I didn’t stay on track very well this week and it showed. I am frustrated and disappointed in myself because I’ve been stuck in this cycle of losing/gaining and it’s getting really old. But I know that the only person that can stop it is me.

I have to be more strict about staying within my points and saying no to going out to eat. Those are the two main habits that I have to change. I’ve gotten really relaxed with my points and not caring if I go over my points and I need to stay as close to my daily points as possible. I also have given in to temptations to go out to eat and just order whatever I want regardless of the points value and I need to either make healthier choices when I go out to eat or not go at all.

So I have my meals planned out for this week and I’m going to stick to it. I am determined to break this cycle of losing/gaining and I’m going to make sure that I have losses for the rest of the month of July.

Monday Weigh-in

June 25, 2019 by Amanda

Well I knew that I was going to have a gain this week because I didn’t eat very well over the past few weeks. I was thankful that it wasn’t as much as I had thought it would be, so I’m just going to accept it and move on. The topic that we discussed at the WW Workshop this week was dealing with weight gains and how to make a plan to get back on track. So this week my plan is to track everything I eat and stay within my points as much as I can. I have all of my meals planned out so hopefully I will have a much better weigh-in next week.

I still have not heard from the doctor’s office about my ct scan so I’m a little frustrated over that because my throat hurts really bad and it’s almost been a week and I still haven’t even had the ct scan set up. I called yesterday to inquire about it and the receptionist said she would let the nurse know that I called. So I’m hoping to get a call today or tomorrow about it. I just want to find out what it is and get it taken care of. I’m worried that I will have the ct scan and nothing will show up and we will have no idea what it really is. So I’m just praying that the ct scan at least shows us something.

It’s also the last week of June, so since I have almost a week left of June, I’m going to use my weigh-in next Monday for my monthly goal. My goal is to be at least 224.02 so I have a little over 5lbs to lose this week. I know I can probably lose that as long as I stay on track and keep up with my exercise routine. So I’m hopeful that I will have a good weigh-in next week!

I was extremely happy to see the number on the scale yesterday at my weigh-in. I lost over 8lbs! That is unbelievable! I know that the previous week I had a large gain so I’m sure some of that was water weight and I probably lost part of that pretty quickly this week. But I know that despite a few days of overindulging, I stayed mostly on track this week and worked out at the gym even on days when I wasn’t feeling the greatest and didn’t want to. I pushed myself and it paid off.

I’m also really happy because I am about 1lb away from my June goal and we still have several weeks left of the month, so I know that I will definitely hit my goal of reaching 224 by the end of the month! That will give me a head start for the next month’s goal of reaching 214. So I’m feeling extremely positive and confident that I am on the right track!

I got the referral to the ENT doctor yesterday, so they will be calling me soon to set up an appointment, so I’m anxious to find out what he thinks is going on with my ear/throat and I’m hoping that he can get it figured out. I’ve been so miserable with a sore throat and the pain in my ear that it makes it worse when I exercise, so I’m hoping to get it taken care of soon so I can focus on my health and keep going.

I have a good plan for this week and have pre-tracked all of my food. We don’t have a lot going on this week so there shouldn’t be too many temptations. My husband is finally done planting the fields so that is a huge relief for us and it’s great to have him home more.

Anyway, hoping to have another great week!

Life has definitely been very hectic for me the pa Life has definitely been very hectic for me the past few weeks. After being a stay at home mom for over 5 years I recently went back to working fulltime. To say I'm exhausted would be an understatement. I have been struggling with balancing everything, including my weight loss journey. I have been letting that fall to the wayside so I could focus on everything else. But I know that I can't keep doing that because I also need to take care of myself, so that I can continue with all of my new responsibilities. So this weekend I am going to be focused on self care and recharging so that I can start next week feeling confident and ready to tackle everything. For me this means that I need time to rest and relax a bit without feeling like I have to do everything myself all in one weekend. I am going to take some time to do some fun things as well as plan ahead for the week so that I will be ready. I know I can do this!

I was honestly surprised that I lost this week, I I was honestly surprised that I lost this week, I thought I would have gained. At the beginning of the week I did well but got off track mid week. But I am thankful for the loss since it motivates me to keep going and work harder!
